Carbon Footprint Methodology
State and federal legislation is currently under development that will lead to a cap for carbon emissions in certain industries. As a result, many large businesses are racing to do a greenhouse gas inventory for their organizations, to be recognized by the law for early actions to reduce emissions as well as by customers who are increasingly choosing to patronize green businesses. Many of our clients, even outside of industries likely to be regulated, are proactively choosing to manage their carbon footprints.
Managing a company’s carbon footprint requires three major phases: establishing a baseline, reducing emissions, and purchasing offsets. Each phase encompasses a myriad of steps that collectively move the company closer to “carbon neutral.” To carry out each phase, iReuse relies on well-established resources, including EPA guidelines and tools. At the end of the process, iReuse provides clients with the information they need to make adjustments to business practices that affect greenhouse gas emissions, and frequently, to reduce costs.
